Terms
Early access · written plainly, and kept honest as we growThese terms are the agreement between you and Selione. They are written in plain language on purpose: you are about to hand us the story of your life, and you should be able to read what you are agreeing to in one sitting.
Early access
Selione is in early access: anyone can begin, features change, and some are rough. We protect what you share with real care, but during this period we cannot promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep an exported copy of anything you would be devastated to lose — the export button exists for that.
Who can use Selione
- You must be 18 or older. When you first meet Iphthimé she asks when you were born; the date is read once and never kept, and if it is not an adult's the account closes there and is erased. A declared date is a declaration, not a verification.
- You use Selione for yourself, with memories of your own life. Building an Echo of someone else is not allowed, in any form.
- One account per person. Your private links (witness, trusted contact, recipient) are meant for the people you chose, and no one else.
What Iphthimé and your Echo are
- Iphthimé is an AI guide. She is not a human being, a therapist, a doctor, a lawyer or an emergency service, and she will tell you so if you ask.
- Your Echo is a model built from what you chose to share. It is a likeness, not a person, and not you. It can be wrong, and it says so.
- Fidelity measures resemblance on the questions we tested. It is not a measure of identity, and we make no claim beyond what the Method page states.
- Neither Iphthimé nor your Echo may be used to impersonate you or anyone else toward a third party, including for anything with legal, financial or medical consequences.
- Nothing here has any testamentary value. What you leave in Selione is a gift made while you are alive: words, memories, a way of telling. It is not a will, it does not transfer anything, and it settles nothing. Your Echonever answers a question about money, property, accounts or who is owed what — not because it knows nothing, but because words about an estate have ruined families that a document would have kept whole. Whatever you decided about those things belongs in a document, with the people whose job that is.
- We do not verify deaths, and we never will. We have no certificate, no registry and no right to ask for one. What we do is notice a silence: after six months with no sign from you we write to you three times, and only then do we ask the person you named whether you are all right. "I do not know" is not a yes, and nothing opens on one person's word.
- Anyone under eighteen receives nothing until they are eighteen, whatever was decided for them. Until that birthday a parent or guardian may be given what was left in writing; an Echo answers nobody who is still a child.
- Mending, Make me sleep and What's missing are not open — not to anyone, including us. They exist in Selione and nobody can reach them. They are not open yet.
- The Return and Crossroads are exercises built on published methods. They are not treatment, they diagnose nothing, and each one says when a doctor or a clinician is the right person. Do not stop or change any care because of them.
- Iphthimé's voice is synthetic. Readings are made from text you already have. No voice of yours is ever cloned without a separate, explicit request from you.
- The models behind Iphthimé may change. What you told, your archive and your Echo's register do not depend on any one of them, and the Privacy page always names the providers in use.
Experiments
To improve how Iphthimé asks and how your Echo answers, we sometimes run two versions of the machinery side by side; which one you meet is assigned by chance and stays the same for you. These experiments never change the rules of this agreement, never concern you as a person, never withhold anything you paid for, and their outcome is decided by a human reading numbers, never by a script. Research on the aggregates is a separate consent, off by default, in Settings.
Witnesses and the people in your life
- When you invite a witness, you show them a handful of your answers beside your Echo's guesses, unlabelled. Invite only people who agreed to play, and never post the link anywhere.
- Your memories name other people. They are held inside your archive as your own view of them; do not use Selione to record what someone told you in confidence in a way that could harm them.
Your content stays yours
Everything you share remains yours. You grant us only what we need to run Selione for you: to store your content, process it with our AI provider to produce replies and weave memories, and build and improve your Echo. We never use your content to train AI models, never sell it, and never show it to anyone you did not choose. This permission ends when you erase your content or your account.
What you promise us
- Don't share other people's private information in ways that could harm them.
- Don't upload content you have no right to share, or anything unlawful.
- Don't try to break, overload, scrape or trick the service — including the daily limits, which exist to keep the Epic honest rather than to frustrate you.
- Don't use Iphthimé as a general-purpose assistant. She is here to listen to your life, not to debug code, process documents or answer for the web — a message that reads like something pasted from a screen is turned away rather than answered badly, and the ceilings behind that are set far above any real conversation. They are named in the FAQ rather than left for you to discover.
- Don't use Selione to harass anyone, or to create an Echo of a person who is not you.
- Don't copy the questions, the sparks, the texts or the behaviour of Iphthimé to build or train another system, by hand or by automation. What you tell is yours; the way Selione asks, keeps and measures is ours.
Subscription
Selione is a subscription: monthly or yearly for one person, a Family plan for up to five, and a Guardian plan for travelers who have completed the Epic. The first week is given by Selione, once per account, without a card. In the apps, Apple or Google charge only after it, and only if you subscribe; on the website, payments open soon and orders placed in the store until then are reservations — nothing is charged.
- The price, what it includes, and any limits are shown before you pay, and again on every renewal notice.
- You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not delete your archive.
- If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, their billing and refund rules also apply: the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it in your store account before the renewal date, and refunds are asked from the store.
- If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Asking us to start immediately means that right ends once the service has been fully provided.
- If a subscription lapses, your archive is not deleted. You keep the right to export it.
Gifts, family seats and the Book
- Gifts. A gift is a code for a number of months of the Epic. It can be opened once, by one person, at any time; the months run from the day it is opened. The buyer receives the code and is responsible for handing it over. A gift gives the buyer no access to anything the recipient says. An unopened gift can be refunded within 14 days of purchase.
- Family plan. The owner of a Family plan may hand out up to four seats. Each seat opens a separate account and archive. Removing a seat, or ending the plan, ends access through the plan but deletes nothing; the person keeps their archive and may continue on their own plan.
- Guardian plan. Available only after reaching the last stage of the Epic. It keeps the Echo active at a reduced pace; it does not change what the Echo is or what recipients receive.
- The Book. A printed Book is made only from the edition you approved, and is produced to order. Because it is personalised, the right of withdrawal does not apply once printing has started; a defective copy is replaced.
- Nothing sold changes the Epic. No purchase moves you faster through the stages or unlocks part of your own archive.
Mending, Make me sleep, What's missing
These three are not open. They exist in Selione and are available to nobody, including us. They are not open yet; until they are, we would rather offer nothing than offer something shaped like care. The paragraph below describes what they would be, and is kept so that this page says what it closed rather than quietly dropping it: self-help exercises based on published methods — not psychotherapy, medical care or a medical device; diagnosing, treating and curing nothing, with no result promised. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.
Envelopes
Envelopes are predictions written by a model, not advice and not statements of fact. They never concern health, death, money trouble, separation or other people's behaviour. A sealed envelope cannot be read before its date, including by us through the product. Marks you give are final once set to true or false.
Death, recipients and what you leave
- You decide who receives what, and you can change it at any moment while you are alive.
- A death is never verified by us, only confirmed by the people you named: a trusted contact tells us, a fourteen-day grace period runs, you can cancel it in one click, and what you leave opens only on a second confirmation or after that whole period of silence.
- What you place in the vault is never transmitted to anyone, ever.
- Recipients receive access, not ownership: they may read and, if you allowed it, speak with your Echo. They cannot modify your archive, extend their own access, or pass it on.
- Your Echo will never contact anyone first, and will never be used for advertising or for any public presence in your name.
Availability and changes
We may change, add or remove features, and we will tell you inside Selione before an important change applies. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give notice well in advance and keep the export working until the last day.
Suspension
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, attacks the service, or endangers other people. Where we can, we will warn you first and always let you export your archive.
Liability
Selione is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for decisions you take based on something Iphthimé or your Echo said, or for content you chose to share with someone else. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.
Leaving
You can leave at any moment. Settings has one button to export everything and one to erase everything, permanently. We would rather you left with your archive in hand than stayed because it was difficult to go.
The company and the law that applies
Selione is operated by Selione, a company in formation in the United Arab Emirates; its registered name and address will be added to this page the day the registration is complete, and you will be told inside Selione when that happens. Until then the operator and the controller of your data is the person behind Selione, reachable at the address below. These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates; consumers in the EU and the UK keep every protection their own law grants them and that cannot be waived. Write to us at contact@selione.ai: a person reads it.
How Selione is built
What we claim and what we refuse to claim is on the Method page. What we keep and who can ever see it is in Privacy. Common questions are answered in the FAQ.
